Georgia Man Uses Old Hunting Rifle To Thwart Home Invasion

A Georgia resident is thankful for his father’s hunting rifle, which he used to defend himself during a home invasion. Local station CBS 46 reported that 28-year-old Timo Hernandez and his mother were about to sit down have dinner when two armed men barged into the residence and began pistol-whipping them. Hernandez was able to reach an old hunting rifle belonging to his father, which resulted in him killing one attacker and leaving the other in serious medical condition (via CBS 46):

Timo Hernandez, 28, recounted the attack the next day. He said his mother happened to be visiting him from Nashville. She cooked some chili for him at his home on Eastwood Drive. The two sat down at about 5 p.m. to eat. Moments later, someone knocked on the door.

“When I opened the door, these two guys stormed in with guns and started pistol-whipping me and took me to the ground,” said Hernandez.

One of the intruders went after his mother, who was trying to escape.

“He started pistol whipping and kicking her in the side,” he said.
